Why counselling?

Do you wish to recognise, come to terms with and bring meaningful change to your situation?

Is it time to refresh your perspective concerning how you feel about yourself and your life, to address your difficulties and to create positive change for yourself?

Then, perhaps beginning therapy with me could be your first step on a positive path? Please feel free to contact me by phone or email without obligation. I will always find time to listen to you and consider your enquiry.

My outlook:

I believe that our capacity to experience health, growth, happiness and fulfilment comes from meaningful and satisfying connections with ourselves and others. Counselling or if required, more in-depth longer-term psychotherapy enables us to uncover what lies beneath your challenges and can help to bring focus to your efforts to feel empowered and regain lost potential.

In therapy we might consider:

  • What makes your relationships repetitive, stale or unfulfilling?
  • What keeps you from communicating successfully with those close to you?
  • What the pain, fear or unhelpful belief is that is still holding you fast?
  • What loss are you still grieving?
  • What are the core concerns that preoccupy you?
  • What gives you hope, and a sense of purpose?

Personal philosophy:

I regard each person with whom I work as an individual and valued human being, you are unique and the expert in how you feel. Our process will consider what it is like for you to experience the difficulty that troubles you without recourse to medical labelling or stereotyping.

I provide a professional, safe and confidential space where you are welcome; where I value your thoughts and feelings without the risk of being judged or criticised. My role as a counsellor is to support and help you to reconnect with those inner resources that may feel momentarily out of reach.

What I can help with:

Depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, loss, bereavement, eating disorders, obsession, phobia, OCD, abuse, personal development, life coaching, health-related issues, men’s life stages, self-esteem, childhood-related issues, relationships, redundancy, anger and emotional management, work-related issues.

My experience:

I am a BACP member with several years of clinical experience gained in the NHS, education and private practice. I offer some evening and weekend evening appointments in Skipton. I am open to discussing concessionary rates depending on your circumstances.

How to make contact:

Our first contact may be by telephone consultation and offer an opportunity for us to talk about what issue you seek to address. It would also provide a chance to share information and to get an initial sense of how it might be for us to work together and whether or not counselling with me might be a productive pathway for you.

I am professionally insured.
